Nov 10 2022 Grade 8 Baking Final Exam - Cancelled! All good!!! Duo-Tang Check & Remembrance Day Assembly

Grade 8 Baking Final Exam Day! Cancelled due to a mis-print in the school calendar!  Plan for today instead!!  TTOC - please have your awesome TA's Michelle and Lumi do attendance.  Reminder - All students to be escorted to the theatre for 11:00 AM for a 11:05 start to the Remembrance Day Assembly. Students - listen to the TTOC and your TA's. No phones & respect to be shown at all times during all assemblies and particularly the Remembrance Day Assembly you are to take part in as of 11:05 AM today. From 10:15 to 11:00 AM:  1. Students - Complete your reflection from Michelle's Bake on Tuesday! Reflection Sheets are located in the square cardboard box behind the teacher's desk. TA's pls copy more if required.  2. Students - Check all items in your duo-tangs fully!  You should have ALL of the following items in your duo-tangs in the RIGHT ORDER (as follows). Need to get a recipe? Nov 8 Michelle TA Student Make Day !!!!

TTOC - please share these notes with the class and also with my TA's (Michelle and Lumi) Attendance - TA's will take (Michelle or Lumi)  Michelle - please show your video recipe demo (Suggest Air Dropping it to the Foods Computer - Foods 218 computer) Michelle - please then hand out your recipes to each lab group. Review with students any important reminders. TTOC or Lumi - can you please video a bit of Michelle's supervision of students for me please to review when I get back to school - hopefully - Wednesday.  Michelle and Lumi - please be sure to remind students to finish cleaning prior to 5 min to the end of class. Please then conduct station checks for each lab group.  Should students wish to take left overs home with them I do have extra yogurt containers available in the back room and that are clean in the dishwasher as an FYI.

Oct 31 2022 Seed Bake!

 Seed Bake! Happy Halloween!!!  Seed Bake!!!  Ingredients  US Metric   1x 2x 3x ▢ ¾   cup   raw pumpkin seeds ▢ 1   tablespoon   olive oil ▢ ½   teaspoon   kosher salt ▢ ⅛   teaspoon   black pepper (optional) Equipment: *Bowl *Spoon & Wooden Spoon or Spatula *Silicone Mat *Silicone baster *4 sided baking tray Instructions  Preheat oven to 350°F (177ºC). In a small bowl combine pumpkin seeds, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Lightly grease a sheet pan with olive oil. (use silicone baster).  Evenly spread the seasoned pumpkin seeds on the sheet pan. Bake until the seeds are toasted and crunchy, about 12 to 15 minutes.  Stir every 5 minutes for even toasting, and check for doneness with each stir by tasting a seed for crunchiness. Transfer the roasted pumpkin seeds to a bowl to cool down.

Oct 25 2022 Healthy Living - Teen Food Mistakes

Attendance.  Students to view the below linked video. The Top 5 Food Mistakes Most Teens Make and How to Fix Them Students to complete associated handout. TTOC - these handouts have been printed and are ready for you behind the main teacher desk. These are double sided. Students need a pencil? Sign your name on the board and borrow one from the yogurt container on the teacher's desk.  Top 5 Teen Food Mistakes Assignment.  Once students have completed their worksheet please review overall answers/tips as a class. Students then need to place their completed worksheet inside their Baking 8 Block B duo-tangs. * All class duo-tangs are located in the filing cabinet at the front of the room.
